LOOKING FOR WORK

If you don’t have a job to return to, moving back to Sweden may mean having to deal with looking for work. You should contact Arbetsförmedlingen (the Swedish Public Employment Service) and register as a jobseeker. On the website of The Swedish Public Employment Service – Arbetsförmedlingen – you will find information in English.

The Ministry has a contact person that can help with some guiding and information.

Bear in mind that you need to visit Arbetsförmedlingen in person to register as a jobseeker. To be entitled to unemployment benefits, you must be registered as a jobseeker with Arbetsförmedlingen.
Prepare for your visit by creating an account and entering your details on the Arbetsförmedlingen website. You must visit in person within 14 days of submitting your details on the website for your information to be registered. When you visit, you must present a valid ID document.
You can only apply for benefits from the unemployment insurance fund from the date on which you are registered as a jobseeker with Arbetsförmedlingen. If you are granted benefits from the unemployment insurance fund, these apply from the date on which you visited Arbetsförmedlingen.
Have a look at the Arbetsförmedlingen website – there you can find the following, for example:

If needed, the contact person for accompanying partners at the Ministry’s Human Resources Department can issue a certificate showing that you have been accompanying a Ministry official abroad, and what that means.
